Olive oil - Dairy products
Olive oil is one of the most important agricultural products of the Greek economy, of particular nutritional and economic importance for the wider region of Achaia. Areas distinguished for the systematic cultivation of the olive tree (olive groves) are mainly located in western Achaia (semi-mountainous zone), in the province of Patras and in Aegialeia.
The prefecture of Achaia has a variety of local dairy products that are constantly improving in quality and production. Given the diverse geographical ecosystem of the area and the livestock farms of all sizes that are being developed, the products produced cover the whole range of dairy products, with emphasis on Feta Kalavryta.

Tentura
Tentura is the local traditional idyllic drink of Patras. According to tradition, its origin dates back to the 15th century, during the Venetian occupation. The old Patriots called it ‘tentura’ and ‘muscovolodothras’ because it had a strong aroma and was usually drunk after a good meal, as a digestive liqueur, but also during the breaks in a hard day’s work in the fields, especially in the threshing floors. It is drunk neat or on the rocks. It is made from a distillate of cinnamon and cloves.
The traditional liqueur of Patras has a deep brown colour, which, like its aromas, is due to the use of an extract of various spices and other aromatic materials (leaves and fruits of nerantziou and citrus fruits). Tendura is used in combination with other drinks to flavour coffee, pastries and food.

It is a local wine produced from a coloured Greek variety of grapes grown in the Northwestern Peloponnese (mainly around the area of Patras) and on some of the Ionian Islands.

Muscat of Rio

Roditis
It is a very old indigenous variety, unique in the world It is a wine that is an important ambassador of the indigenous Greek varieties abroad and at an excellent quality-price ratio.
Ouzo
Ouzo – unlike tsipouro – is only to a small extent a product of grape distillation. It is an industrial mixture of pure alcohol, water and aromatic substances, with aniseed as the main ingredient.
Tsipouro
Tsipouro is distilled from the raisins of the grapes that remain after pressing and extraction of the must for the production of wine. The distillation of tsipouro is an entire science. In addition to the grapes, various aromatic substances are added to the still in quantities and proportions that are usually the taster’s own secret.
Patrinka loukoumi
The Patras loukoumi are, without exaggeration, together with the tin, the “trademark” of the city. Loukoumi has been an integral part of Greek tradition for many years. This unique sweet combines pure, natural ingredients, giving it a special aroma and a characteristic velvety texture.
In Patras, loukoumi has its own special history. As early as 1850, loukoumi workshops were flourishing in the area and the product deservedly occupied the position of a local speciality. It is no coincidence that Patras became the gateway to the western world, as a 19th century English traveller passing through Patras took the loukoumi to his homeland and from there to the rest of the world.
