The purpose of the policy is to inform users about the use of cookies on the patrasport.gr website and whether your consent is required for this purpose.
What are cookies?
“Cookies” are small files with information that a website (specifically the web server) stores on a user’s computer/tablet/mobile phone, so that each time the user logs on to the website, the latter retrieves this information and offers the user relevant services.

Which law applies?
Cookies are governed by the e-privacy Directive 2002/58/EC as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC (which has been incorporated into Greek law by Law 3471/2006) as explicitly provided in the 2016/679 Data Protection Regulation recital 173. According to the current law N3471/2006 (see article 4 paragraph 5 of this law as amended by article 170 N 4070/2012) “The installation of “cookies” is allowed only with the consent of the user and after proper information.” During the first visit of the user to the website https://www.patrasport.gr/ a pop-up window appears where the visiting user can indicate his/her consent to the installation of the cookies specifically mentioned, which are non-functional cookies aimed at improving the services presented on the Website.

There are “cookies” that have been assessed by the Article 29 Working Party* as technically-functionally necessary for the realisation of the connection to the website or for the provision of the internet service. For these the law does not require prior consent.

- “Cookies” which are necessary for the identification and/or preservation of content entered by the subscriber or user during a session on a website throughout the duration of the specific connection. (For example, such “cookies” are necessary when the user fills in an online form).
- The same category includes “persistent cookies” that are installed for the same purpose and last for a few hours.
- Cookies” that are necessary for the authentication of the subscriber or user to services that require authentication.
- “Cookies” installed for the purpose of subscriber or user security, such as “cookies” that detect repeated failed attempts to log in to a user’s account on a particular website.
- “Cookies” with multimedia content, such as flash player “cookies”, during a session on a website. Such cookies are, for example, “cookies” that are installed when a video is shown on the website that the user has visited “cookies” that are necessary to perform the technique of load balancing on a connection to an Internet website.
- “Cookies” that “remember” the subscriber’s or user’s choices regarding the presentation of the website (e.g. “cookies” regarding the choice of language or the presentation of search results on a website).
- “Cookies” that are installed through plug-ins on social networking sites and relate to the sharing of content between authenticated members who have already logged in.
How to control cookies
You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer, as well as set most browsers to prevent cookies from being installed. However, in this case, you may have to adjust certain preferences yourself each time you visit a website, and some services may not work.

*Article 29 Working Party – (WP29) : Established under Article 29 of Directive 95/46/EC on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data. The Working Party is advisory to the European Commission but independent of it. It is composed of a representative of the Data Protection Authorities of each Member State and examines issues of particular importance or of particular interest in relation to the protection of personal data falling under the first pillar of the EU. The examination of issues shall be carried out either at the request of the European Commission or on the basis of a proposal by the members of the Working Party. The Working Party shall issue opinions and working documents. Already after the implementation of the 2016/679 Regulation, it operates as the European Data Protection Board.
